Review - Pantene BB Cream for Hair

It's no secret I am obsessed with the BB/CC cream trend, even extending to the arguably gimmicky hair/body BB and CC Creams.  I have found a few winners, and more than a few that were just average.

For the last 4 weeks, I have been testing out the Pantene BB Cream shampoo and conditioner.  My hair is shoulder length, and while fine, there is a fair amount of it.  It has little to no volume, and can't hold a curl to save my life.  I generally have to wash it about every 3 days, 4 with some dry shampoo and a little luck.  My shampoo and conditioner of choice have been the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day line.

Packaging - I actually really like this packaging, with the thinner shampoo sitting upright, and the thicker conditioner upside down.  The bottles aren't obscenely large, and are not slippery when wet in the shower.

Scent - The Pantene scent to me is really just drugstore shampoo.  It's not overwhelming, and its indescribable.  I'm pretty indifferent to it, but if you don't like scent you may find it a turn off.

Texture - For shampoo, I found this to be just the right viscosity.  It was thin enough to easily work into the hair, but not so thin I felt like I was wasting it.  The conditioner was perfect for someone like me who HATES conditioner.  It was thin but not runny, and easy to rinse out.

Ingredients and Claims:  The shampoo from this line is not sulfate free, should this be something you look for.  My hair is not currently coloured, so I was not overly concerned.

Pantene makes a number of claims overall for this line:

-Repair for rough hair, and overall strengthening
-Smooth, shiny hair
-Added hydration
-Control of frizz, and flyways
-Heat Protection

I would agree with the hydration aspect, although frizz control and smoothing are a likely result of silicones.

Overall, I found this duo was great for cleansing my hair, getting out product and feeling soft and manageable.  The only con for me, was that the silicones included for smoothing caused my hair to feel dirtier faster, and I ended up having to wash my hair every couple days.

I was also provided the BB Cream styling product which sadly was a huge miss for me.  When added in damp and blown dry, it added texture to my hair but no volume, and was looking stringy and dirty by the end of the day.  Put in dry, even sparingly, it just looked oily.  Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend unless you have really dry hair that could use the nourishment, or hair that responds well to products heavy in silicones.

Writers note: These products were provided to me for review, through the BzzAgent PR program.  I was not compensated for this post.
